The unnatural part of this whole sad fiasco is the fact that a brain dead person has been kept alive by science and technology for 15 years in the first place.

The doctors are to blame, who tried to reanimate a person which was actually already dead and played "Frankenstein" to gain some more reputation for their own carreer with a freaky case.

IMHO

Chirs, there other issues like a living will/ death wish thing... she had multiple broken bones when she had her "accident". there were nurses that signed afadavits saying she had needle marks on her, insulin bottles were found in her home, she had neck trauma(injuries), she husband did not say terri said she did not want to be kept alive until about 7 years after the accident and they got 1 million dollars in a malpraqctice suit, her husband has had 2 girlfriends and has been enguaged to for years- al together almost 14 years and he has 2 kids with other woman.

This is an interesting article:

msnbc.msn.com/id/7328639/

I think a little less biased reports on her husband and when and how he made his decision are in order too.

Should someone be in mourning for a brain dead person all their lives? When is an appropriate time to move on?

I kind of agree with Debbie here. Good article link there.

Rev, just because the husband accepted Terri's vegetative state and moved on with his life, doesn't mean he never loved her? That's kind of mean when you think of widow/widowers who date/marry again. I rather people fell in love again then stayed lonely/miserable.

Parents NEVER EVER want their children to die before them. Ask any parent.

BTW, hundreds of feeding tubes are being removed every day across the US, and people are allowed to die. The only difference in this case is the family disagreed and made a huge political mess out of it.

Also, Bush signed an end of life law in Texas that contradicts his current thinking...

This whole thing has been made into a mockery by the media.

She is the latest Laci Peterson.

I hate how these wolves pick out a certain story and hammer it to death, until most people could care less about it, anymore.

Let the woman die and be at peace.

Terri Schiavo, the brain-damaged Florida woman at the heart of a bitter legal dispute, has died.

Mrs Schiavo died on Thursday at the Pinellas Park hospice, where she lay for years while her husband - who was her legal guardian - and her parents fought over whether to keep her alive or let her die.

Her parents and their two other children were with her up to 15 minutes before she died.

A few minutes before she died, they were told to leave the room by Michael Schiavo, their spokesman said.

They were allowed back into the room after she died.

It's a shame that people prefer quantity over quality when life in concerned...

One correction and one observation, Debbie.

Terri was never "brain dead". If she were, the question would be moot. In such cases, as you've noted, "the plug can (and is) be pulled" often enough.

In Terri's case, her brain was damaged - but still functioning - from a lack of oxygen. How this damage occured is a mystery - as some doctors have noted it could easily have been a result of an attempt to strangle her.

At any rate, her brain was functional. At least on a young child-like level she was able to speak and interact with others. Her only "crime' was that she was unable lift a spoon to feed herself - the same crime that persons like Stephen Hawkings are obviously guilty. This is why the mentally and physically disabled community are not happy that Terri was killed; In the last generatiom such people were - like Terri - deemed "unworthy to live" and they were consigned to death camps

An observation of "the mourning". It was only after he got a million dollar jury award so he could "care for her the rest of her life" that the "husband" (he had been sleeping around quite regularly in between his tears & had fathered several children) claimed, "Errrr....I almost forgot - she said she wanted to be starved and dehydrated to death". This was contrary to not only her religious beliefs, but also to everything she had told her family and closest friends. So my guess is that he somehow managed through his "mourning".
