I don't think it's possible to lump all the cultures together. Japanese or Chinese. Koreans are different. Thais are different. Filipinos are different. Malays are different. I've travelled a lot in Asia and really love all the different countries. Thai language is tonal like Cantonese and is my second favourite Asian language. I think Thai women are the most beautiful Asian women myself. Philippines is the hardest work but somehow most rewarding (to travel around)
I totally agree with Debbie that HK Chinese love all-things-Japanese.
I've not been to Cambodia, Vietnam or Laos. You must hear Jane Eliz's stories about Cambodia and Vietnam!
I had a Japanese boyfriend once. He was fun hahahahaha That was in my early teen years.
Back to Japanese music - it's pretty popular here - not the traditional pap but the modern stuff.
If you ever go to Japan, take a walk down Shinjuku Park on Sunday and you'll find stage after stage of bands playing. There was a band that if you shut your eyes, you SWEAR it was the Sex Pistols playing live hahahahahaha
A lot of local music is also popular in Japan and lots of Canto-pop artists will do Japanese versions of their songs.
