My friend isn't biased. I take him at his word.

As for desire being different than desiring being different than having desire being different having A desire: NAH.

But I'd say that a reasonable person would assume that local prisons in Canada contain more prisoners than hidden, secretive, CIA prisons do. A REASONABLE person would, anyway.

I'd say a reasonable person would be able to tell the difference between incarcerated criminals in a monitored setting and accused "enemy combatants" being shipped off to facilities where CIA operatives can do whatever TF they want to them without fear of reprisal.

I guess that leaves you out.

How would I know I take him at his word? Dumb question. Why don't I do your research for you? I'm lazy. Besides, I have no reason to dispute a man who's studied the issue a million times more intensively than I, a man whom I know isn't biased.

:)

Dreamtone, my friend, I have no interest in crushing your faith; I'm simply not that interested. I just like to watch you dance:

"Some slaves LIKED their masters" (wiggle-wiggle)

"Freedom is an illusion" (wiggle-wiggle)

"Both...and neither." (wiggle-wiggle)

BTW- Were you aware that King James was a homosexual?

Not that it's at all germaine to the subject of my post (which you avoided), but I can tell the difference...the terrorists are a lot worse. And, yes, you're still assuming the media is correct in everything it is reporting. I suppose I shouldn't expect that to change any time soon, reasonably speaking.

That wasn't my question. Let me rephrase it a little more obviously. If you simply take a person at their word, how would you ever discover that they were biased on a subject (because you just take their word for it)? You wouldn't. That's my point. You would have no way of knowing whether they are biased or not on this subject unless you took a look into it for yourself. Methinks a lot are afraid to do this because they are afraid of what they might find...ignorance is bliss, as they say. I wonder if your friend has ever written a paper or anything on this subject that he apparently feels so strongly about? That would be one possible indicator that he has anything substantial at all to back up his opinion (not that it would necessarily be conclusive, mind you.)

LOL! I suppose he told you this too, eh?

Shatter my faith? LOL! You aren't able to touch it, even. :D

bitwhys - The point is that you show a lot of concern for the attrocities that occur to terrorists of another country (the US) while showing no concern whatsoever for the attrocities committed in your own country, under your own nose. There are going to be attrocities in any prison system, regardless of who is running it. The media takes them and tries to make them look as if they were officially sanctioned by the US government, and you buy it; lock, stock and barrel. No questions asked. Perhaps you missed it where the article noted that the CIA is no longer running many of the active cells that (at least according to the article) are being run overseas...they're being handled by locals, in many cases. Are you going to go try to crucify them next? Who are you to judge when you aren't even concerned about cleaning up the mess that's already in your own backyard?

The point is they ARE running the shop in others and a good old fashioned bible thumper like yourself thinks its alright because

and I quote

Quote:
Its war

you got the scoop on any "attrocities" happening "under my nose" step right up otherwise quit making stuff up. I'm not interested in your newfound fondness of "social norms".

bitwhys - "so its NOT alright then"

Not clear what you mean by "it"...but attrocities of any kind are never alright. I have yet to see any evidence...other than the highly suspect word of the media. Again, I wonder how she came across this supposedly "top secret" info? Very convenient for her that it would be difficult to disprove.

The media definitely has a pattern in the way they present things...as does the opinion of those who listen to it without questioning it.

Well I, for one, didn't believe the WoMD hype from the get-go. some of the old brownload regulars might remember that.
