To a degree I agree with ya, Larree...we still practice CP in Mississippi, but ONLY with parent's permission...gone are the days of ol' Coach Bryan (my old High School linebackers coach) sporting 19-inch biceps and a sawed off boat paddle with holes drilled in it...now THAT was a DETERRENT!!



....and therein lies the REAL problem...here parents usually don't give permission because they don't want their kids disciplined by the "State" (Me), and they WON"T do it themselves; however, they DO want the "State" (Me) to take over ALL the other parenting duties, i.e., character education, proper nutrition, babysitting, teaching everything they need while AT school so they are not burdened with helping with homework, etc. It's a complete Cop-Out on the part of many of today's parents...most of whom were failures themselves and are seeking a little of what is, in their mind, "pay-back" on the "system" and its' authority (Me) by making my job as difficult as possible...dumbasses don't know, or CARE for that matter, that they are destroying their kids' future.

'hood...what irks me is most of these guys regard all women as "Hoes", yet when I ask them about the "Hoe" at home that gave them life, wiped their ass, changed their diaper, fed them, clothed them, and showed them unconditional love, they get ALL bent out of shape...

.... are just professional scandalizers. Artists have been creating scandals to shock people and attract attention for centuries. The problem is that the ability to scandalize relies on the existence of a repressive moral order, the two feed on each other, and scandalous art has always functioned as a barometer for society's moral administrators, i.e. if people are shocked then that is a sure sign they are still subjects of the morality. If they are not, then the moral order's hegemony is failing and it's time to do something about it. The fact that the behaviour required to shock people is becoming more extreme these days indicates the gradual erosion of the current moral order. In the past, this sort of partial collapse has always been followed by a backlash of harsh repression. I'm not sure that's possible now, though, because the means of communication can no longer be regulated.

The sad irony of rap music/rap videos, Debbie, is that it's mostly white execs corporate suits who tell 'em "wave the gun higher", "treat her like a ho' " "slap the b!tch", etc and who end up profiting the most.



Consider how many of the rappers (and the influenced wannabees-gangstas) end up in prison for doing the very things glorified in the videos - killing, beating up women, robbery, etc. Meanwhile the execs (black, white, whatever color ) live the peaceful, crime-free haute life. But since they add a "parental warning" on the video/CD, they can wash their hands of the blood....

Yup, yup, SA - Whether it's in the real world or online, I think the question a man should ask is : "Is this how I would want my sister, mom, daughter treated?"



That doesn't mean a family won't have it's internal squabbles and differences, but yaknowhatimean.

Funny how there's no backlash against violence, language, wars, etc but so much right wing backlash against pro-choicers and gays.
