I LOVE Madonna's latest albums and songs - the productions are AWESOME!! And her arms are outstanding too! :banana

Well Michelle Branch was great and has a super voice - even though she's a 'modern artist' hahahahahhahahaha She's got good stage presence and her band was really tight. Thoroughly enjoyed her set.

I liked Neil Young's three acoustic songs of which "Harvest Moon" was the best. Very nice. He actually sung them beautifully and has a lovely melodic voice. The rest of it with Crazy Horse was a tad boring for me. A bunch of old guys hunched up over their guitars standing in a circle!! Cant really see the 'grunge' connection. I didn't know ANY of the songs he performed.

I watched the audience around me leave until we were surrounded by people in their 50s and 60s - sitting in their seats nodding to the music - hahahahahaha

There was quite a few of us younguns who had turned up just to see Michelle Branch. I left before the end.

Someone said to me it's like when you go to the Wanch and there's a bunch of old guys playing whining guitars!! hahaha And this guy LOVES Neil Young - hahahahahahahahaaha

I'd much rather see Linkin Park or Evanescence and 'crazy horses' wont drag me to a Neil Young gig again - hahahahahahahhahahahahaha

Chris, I agree with you on all points - except for Madonna's songs - although the productions are good, and the beats too, I dont think either the songs or the vocals are strong or inspiring. I still cannot like them or sing to them.

I like Michelle Branch - actually cover a couple of her songs - Everywhere and All you wanted (we are dropping this one cause its now sounding dated). She has a great voice and the songs are quite clever. And its nice to see an artist who is not anorexic and wearing normal clothes and being accepted too. There are lots of modern artists I like, but there are some whose popularity I simply cannot understand.

Never really got into Neil Young except for the accoustic bit. He has a very clean melodic voice, I really enjoyed the vocals. With the band, I felt that they were really another average rock band kind of jamming with each other and making lots of noise. Some of the songs were really really long as well.

All in all it was not a very high energy night, as neither Michelle Branch nor Crazy Horse/Neil Young were very high energy performers. It was more a sit there and tap foot kind of night...and I yawned a few times too. heh.

Yes it seems "Harvest Moon" struck a chord in the hearts of many. Ahhhh bless!

Back to more important things like MADONNA - she's one of my role models hahahaha You'd never guess. I think she's great, collaborating with some great producers - I've seen her in concert and yeah she goes off-key sometimes, not many though. Plus she puts on a SUPERB show! The best I've ever seen have been Madonna's concerts. All-round entertainer. I can never stop looking at her. TOL do a Madonna song every now and again. Bless them! hahaahahha :banana Now I want her arms! And all her business acumen! She's the only person in the world I really really want to meet. I'm going on a bit as this is a Neil Young thread and I wanna see the fireworks fly - hahahaahahahhahaha :rollin

Just another average band? Except maybe for the FACT that they are some of the true pioneers of the "jamming" rock & roll sound. Everyone else copies THEM. NOT the other way around!

I think we should sentence Chris to 12 hours of listening to Harvest/Goldrush for the "old & boring Neil" remark, hahahaha!

Yeah. And we can throw in a few spins of Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, too!

Ha...!

Wanna REALLY torture Chris, Larree???

Make her listen to some live Grateful Dead....!

Believe it or not... - Mike can jam like that - total freedom of Spirit....

But then again... - Madonna IS a brilliant business-person....

AND a great perfomer.

But she sucks. (Nothing wrong with that...) - It's just when she sucks musically that I get turned off..!!

:)

Madonna has made some of the worst music ever on radio and it's no real surprise that somebody who thinks she has talent doesn't get Neil Young. heh

Oh, definitely agreed. But there's just so much I can take of people playing to each other in a song 7 minutes long, not much variation and not very much singing either. I really wish he could have done some more vocally. I loved it when the harmony bits came in. I think I would've been far more entertained with Neil Young as a solo act. Plus he wore a cap right up until the accoustic bit, so for a good hour you couldn't see his face at all (nor the faces of the others... cause they were playing side-ways to each other... for once the only person whose face you could actually see was the drummer!!). Also because the TV coverage was focused on their arms and guitars all the time, on the big screen there were lots of arms and guitars. Still the guy has a fantastic voice and great songs, no doubt.

Chris you really are winding folks up with madonna, what? heh! She's never been my role model, and although I give her full marks for being a strong woman etc etc, her talent is mediocre to say the least. The women I appreciate are Tina Turner, Cher, Chrissie Hynde, Celine Dion (simply FANTASTIC voice); I also like Pink, Gwen Stefani - too many to name actually. :g

I cannot watch Madonna for long - I find her very strange, her music's awful and movements are kinda spastic-like. :evil

I have to dash to work - yes I work saturday mornings. gah.

hahahaha A 'Deadhead' once lent me some of their music and I listened to it - just the once - gave it back to him and said NOT MY CUP OF TEA! hahahahahahahaha

I was going thru a thought processs at Neil Young - thinking - why am I still here? - it's because Neil Young is famous at what he does - but then am I being sheep for insisting on staying to listen to stuff I genuinely don't like? - then shouldn't I be an individual and listen and state what I do like - then I decided it was OK for me to like what I like and that I wont be influenced by 'fame' and 'marketing' - I always give music a try - I HAVE to - hahahahhaha - but generally what I like is liked by a fair amount of people - or I wouldn't be able to choose songs for people.

hahaha FT - not eloquent enough to say something without just attacking someone's musical taste?

Oh Drooly, Mike Burn & friends plays much more fusion/jazz orientated jams which I far prefer. I think he might be a tad insulted if you said he sounded like Neil Young :wgrin I like jam bands like Mike's and bands like Fishbone (you heard of them?)

Debbie - hahahahahaha great description of what the cameras were zooming in on - hahahahaha - I thought it was Willie Nelson playing at the beginning cause we couldn't see faces - just long white hair hahahahahha

Chrissie Hynde is cool, I think Courtney Love's music is great but cant stand the woman, I'm a big fan of Joan Osbourne, I like Macy Gray, the singers in Lava Baby, Amy Lee (Evanescence) and of course MADONNA! :wgrin

I have to say Celine Dion makes me want to throw up. So does Mariah Carey. And Whitney Houston.

Back to Madonna - anyone ever see her "Justify my Love" video? That one puts me in a very suggestive mood. :blush

Chris: Celine Dion... have you heard Treat her like a lady, River Deep, You shook me all night long?? she can really rock when she's not singing tripe like titanic and other such wailers. She truly is a versatile singer. As for Mariah Carrey and her ilk yeah they make me throw up too. I do not understand why people with such great voices feel the need to do all kinds of shite to a song's tune. ugh.

I really like Hole - Courtney Love is a bit cheeky heh, but don't mind her. We do Celibrity Skin...

must listen to Evanescence, somebody was telling me we should do one of their songs - forgot the name. Macy Gray, not bad, once you get used to her strange voice.

:ww

If you were eloquent, you'd get Neil Young. :box

But really I found your comments earlier in the thread to be attacking the tastes of anybody who likes Neil. Insulting really. So you deserved a little flame back so you know who's boss. ha ha
