Dreamtone -
yeah, I love night photography, too - and black & white pics. I got those pics from a site of MInneapolis photos. Except the traffic cam one that's about 1/2 mile or so from my place. Today, from that same cam, our snow cover now looks like this -

Nice weather for Dec 1st - really no snow to speak of and temps 25-32 F. But it's supposed to get chilly next week. (For our metric friends: 32 F = 0 C)
Here's a pic of my digs look before snow:

==========
Jorn -
You lived for awhile in Minn? Cool! Where you in one of the northern 'burbs like Brooklyn Center or further up, like towards Anoka?
I was born in a small town in Minnesota, but I grew up (as it were, hahaha!) in Minneapolis and lived there most my life. It's changed alot, but it's still a beautiful city in many ways. I now live in a southern burb of Minneapolis. Just a quick handy busride and I'm downtown. Though downtown has changed too much for my liking, too. Too much steel and glass, I prefer the old stone & brick buildings - they have soul.
Fergus Falls is more northwestern Minn and I don't get up that way often. I've probably spent more time, when away from the Twin Cities, in the Duluth-Hibbing area which is pretty much due north some 200 miles or so. Maybe you heard of the area up there called "The Iron Range"? (Hibbing is Dylan's home town) Lots of Finns settled in that area and the girls often have lovely green eyes to go with their equally lovely "strawberry-blonde" hair.
Lots of Scandinavian folks settled in Minn in the late 1800s & early 1900s, including my people who came from Sverige. There's still a lot of joking between the Scandinavian descended people - about themselves and one another. Swede folks tell jokes about Norsk folks and vice versa. Then they both pick on the Finns. hahahaha!
And come Yul, I face the dreaded yearly lutefisk eating. It's kind of a test of one's manhood when you're several generations away from the old countries.
But catching a Lucia celebration sweetens up the season, so it all equals out fine.
So - where you doing anything special while you where here, Jorn, or was it just visiting?

Was your BA work at the U of M, Jorn?
I imagine you probably made a visit or two to the Guthrie and other local theatres during your stay.
In which theatrical aspect(s) were you interested? Never heard of "julebord", Jorn. But aquavit and/or glogg are plentiful during the season.
But I used to have impromptu get togethers with the colleagues (actually guys/gals from the misc. arts) in the Minneapolis warehouse district.
We'd show a film, make music and swill a whole lot of beer. Some of us would bring a "personal flask" of intoxicating beverage of choice. You'd pay a buck for the refillable plastic beer glass.
Anyway, saw a good amount of the local artist's films, videos, artwork, enjoyed some fine music, made some weird music. Great for just BSing and getting to know diff guys (and gals, heh).
The installation art thing you mentioned before and your music would've fit right in, Jorn!
But those were the days when I was young and foolish. Now I'm a bit older and foolish.
But here's an art installation I remember through the alcohol faze of those days. I think the group I was with played at it: I'd been awake for two days prior so that was more like a no-sleep faze.
