What is the best way to deal with bb spammers...? (NT)

i think this is the most tolerant and considerate board in history!

i was really active on another board for years, and their reaction to spam is pretty poor i think- making fun of them. for a while before i quit hanging out there much i'd respond to spammers by visiting their sites and commenting on the music and art. sometimes they came back and interacted, sometimes they didn't.

i think the way the blah blah board responds to spammers is good. drooly's "buy my cd" bit is good, and chris' comments are always good.

(say paul, on an aside, my bday is aug 9, too bad that won't be your first gig, it'd be a good birthday present!)

LOL - but you are right, Chris. Too often on forums/bbs/lists people get the wrong idea from just one post, rather than the whole context of where the person is coming from. And even if a person does post something that someones diagrees with, I 've learned it's a good idea to seperate that from the person her/himself.

One idea though - I'm starting a private BB elsewhere on the web for our family to meet & catch up - right at the top will be a list of do's & don't for newcomers. Perhaps, a "Please read me before you post if you're new to Blah, Blah" as a permermant top thread sticky would helpful for the good & well intentioned - but inexperienced - newbies such as you've mentioned?

BTW, I think the idea of cannibalizing the unrepentant, repeat hit&run spammers is disgusting! I mean what's in that for Blah Blah regulars who are vegetarians?!!!! :cute

I remember I used to look forward to the Spam and go check out the links, unfortunitly my mods didn't see it that way

Spam it like a yell into the sky.. "Hey look at me" Some people listen and some don't but I think it's cool they can yell

Good question about vegetarians.

Can't let them carnivores and omnivores have all the fun.

Spammers should be required by blah blah law to prepare us vegetarians a nice Vegan supper. With some banana bread for dessert.

THEN the carnivores can eat their hearts.
